Job summary

Auckland Council is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to drive the evolution of our enterprise integration capability within the Platform Engineering practice. This hands-on leadership role combines deep engineering expertise with a focus on scalable, secure, modern integration solutions.

Working with architects, product teams and delivery squads, you will establish best practices, uplift engineering capability and ensure our integration platforms remain reliable and future‑proof.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience designing and delivering enterprise integration solutions.
• Proven technical leadership in large, complex environments.
• Deep MuleSoft and API-led connectivity expertise.
• Strong experience with REST APIs and event-driven integration patterns.
• Experience establishing integration standards, reusable frameworks and governance.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and mentoring abilities.
• Champion Infrastructure as Code, automation and modern DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and design enterprise integration solutions for scale and reliability.
• Drive integration platform modernization and platform engineering best practices.
• Provide guidance to engineers and partner with architecture, product and delivery teams.
• Lead governance, standards and lifecycle management for APIs and integrations.
• Oversee CI/CD pipelines and IaC implementations across Azure environments.
• Ensure security, observability and resilience of integration platforms.
• Mentor engineers and foster engineering excellence across teams.
