About the role | Mō te tūranga:
We are currently seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and skilled Scientist who is eager to expand their career and grow into a Technical Lead role. This is a full-time position of 80 hours each fortnight, located in our Invercargill Laboratory.

You will work in partnership with the Laboratory Manager and Head of Department, Core Laboratory, to lead the day-to-day operations of the technical area and the performance of pathology tests. The Technical Lead will provide technical and scientific direction to scientists, technicians and trainees, to develop a cohesive team and maintain a commitment to providing a high-quality service.

About you | He kōrero mōu
To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Registration as a Scientist with the New Zealand Medical Sciences Council and hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Ideally have previously held a senior position/supervisory role within a team which included responsibility for training staff.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills and the ability to use these for coaching and mentoring of others.
  • A sound knowledge of laboratory operations including, safety, quality assurance processes, operation of equipment and hands-on practical experience.
  • You will be required to participate in the 24/7 roster.
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
