Job summary

Adaptiv in New Zealand is seeking a proactive Business Analyst to join the Delivery team. You will work directly with clients and delivery squads to capture business needs and convert them into actionable requirements across data, integration, AI and cloud initiatives.

Three years of BA experience in tech or consulting, strong stakeholder skills and familiarity with Jira/Confluence are essential. A tertiary qualification and BA certification are advantageous.

Qualifications

About the Role

Joining our Project Management Office and reporting to the Head of Delivery, you’ll work directly with clients and our delivery teams to turn business needs into clear, actionable requirements.

Your work will span data, integration, AI and broader technology initiatives, alongside opportunities to improve Adaptiv’s own internal processes.

You’ll stay involved throughout delivery from discovery and process analysis through to development, testing and business readiness. Working alongside project managers, architects, developers and QA, you’ll help ensure the solution delivered addresses the business problem we set out to solve.

This is a varied consulting role for someone who is comfortable working with different stakeholders, navigating ambiguity and adapting as priorities change.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Facilitating discovery sessions, interviews and workshops to understand business needs and agree priorities.
• Analysing current and future processes, systems and information flows to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Translating business needs into requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps and functional specifications.
• Defining functional and non-functional requirements that are clear, feasible and testable.
• Working with architects and technical consultants to assess solution options, dependencies and impacts.
• Supporting data mapping, source-to-target rules and business data definitions where required.
• Maintaining requirements traceability and assessing changes to scope throughout delivery.
• Clarifying requirements during design, development and testing, and supporting user acceptance testing and defect triage.
• Communicating findings, decisions and risks clearly to business and technical stakeholders.
• Supporting change readiness and operational handover so clients can use and support what we deliver.
• Contributing to pre-sales discovery and improving our analysis practices, documentation and internal processes.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone with a sound business analysis foundation and the confidence to work directly with clients.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• At least three years’ business analysis experience in technology, digital or consulting environments.
• A track record of gathering, analysing and documenting requirements that support successful technology delivery.
• Experience facilitating workshops and working across diverse business and technical stakeholder groups.
• Strong requirements management and process modelling skills, including user stories, acceptance criteria and functional and non-functional requirements.
• A sound understanding of IT concepts, systems integration and the technology delivery lifecycle.
• The ability to investigate a problem, challenge assumptions constructively and explain practical options.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to produce professional documentation for different audiences.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence or similar collaboration and delivery tools, alongside strong Microsoft Office skills.
• The organisation and judgement to manage competing priorities, follow through on actions and raise issues early.

Experience across integration, data, cloud, AI or enterprise systems projects would be valuable. Consulting or client-facing delivery experience is a distinct advantage.

Exposure to Databricks, Azure Integration Services, Boomi or MuleSoft would also be useful, but isn’t essential.

A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred. Business analysis training or certification, such as IIBA or BCS, and experience with Agile, Scrum or Kanban are advantageous.
