If you're passionate about lifting standards, mentoring others, and influencing the future of field practices, this role is for you. This is your chance to join an organisation with a strong focus on innovation, safety, and professional development — and a team that is committed to supporting your growth.

The Role

We are looking for a Technical Advisor to join our Energy Services team. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in ensuring operational safety, risk management, and technical excellence across our teams, while mentoring and guiding Supervisors, Managers, and field staff. Your work will directly contribute to building safer, more effective practices and ensuring Northpower continues to lead the way in compliance.

In this role, you will:

  • Back the teams—Coach Supervisors, Team Leaders, and field staff in the application of safe work methods, risk assessment, and critical controls
  • Set the Standard—conduct 2nd line of defence activities and verify technical competencies, assess trade tools, and refine procedures across the board
  • Keep it compliant—stay ahead of industry regulations and ensure our crews are equipped to meet them
  • Share your knowledge—help shape training, coach technical skills, and support continuous development across our workforce
  • Enhance Performance—identify and implement technical and safety enhancements that make a real difference in daily operation
  • Champion learning—foster a culture of ongoing growth by supporting development pathways, guiding technical upskilling, and integrating lessons learned in day-to-day practices
What’s in it for you?

This is an exciting chance to step into a role that has real influence over performance, culture, and safety. You’ll work closely with respected leaders and have the opportunity to shape the future of technical practice at Northpower. In return, you’ll enjoy:

  • Competitive remuneration
  • Opportunities for technical and leadership growth
  • A collaborative, supportive team culture
  • In-house wellbeing support including Kaitiaki peer network and EAP services
  • A company committed to innovation, care, and continuous learning
About You

  • A strong technical field background, with audit and risk management knowledge
  • Practical understanding of regulatory frameworks and industry best practices
  • Strong influencing and mentoring skills, with a proactive, safety-first mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to coach field and leadership teams
  • A commitment to continuous learning and staying up to date with innovations
