At Auckland Council, our leisure centres play a key role in achieving our goal of making Auckland the most active city in the world. We4re looking for Learn to Swim Instructors to join our Tepid Baths team to help achieve that goal.
This is a fantastic role where you dont need any formal qualifications or experience to apply—just a passion to work with our diverse community while making a difference. Well provide the training you need to succeed in the role.
We have two permanent part-time opportunities available, each offering 6 hours per week.

Youll be a confident swimmer and a passionate instructor who genuinely enjoys working with people of all ages—especially young children. While youll often be supporting children during key times, youll also play an important role in helping adults build their skills and confidence in the water.
Exceptional customer service and clear communication are essential, as youll be engaging with families and individuals across the wider community.
This role is all about nurturing joy, safety, and confidence in the water. Whether youre guiding a toddler through their first splash or helping an adult overcome their fear of swimming, your gentle approach and enthusiasm will make a lasting impact.
If you already hold a recognised swim teacher qualification or have previous experience, thats a bonus—but not a requirement. Well provide all the comprehensive training you need to succeed.
If you do not have a recognised swim teacher qualification, e.g. AUSTSWIM, you will be required to attend a two-week training course, which we will arrange.
To be considered for this role, you must also be willing to complete First Aid training.
As a Learn to Swim Instructor, youll have free access to our facilities, work-life balance, and a supportive team. Pay rate: Living Wage, $28.95
Our employer KiwiSaver contribution is in addition to the base salary offered.
