The Ministry for Primary Industries, Wellington, seeks a Team Manager Business Operations to lead a small team delivering workforce planning, governance, and operational support for Verification Services. You will partner with MPI shared services to optimise logistics, risk management, and service delivery across the branch.

You will drive improvements, coach staff, and ensure briefing papers and communications support frontline verification and certification services across New Zealand’s food

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading people and business operations functions, including workforce planning and resource management.
• Experience delivering operational, strategic, or business planning initiatives that improve organisational performance and service delivery.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess risks, synthesize complex information, and provide clear evidence-based advice.

Responsabilités

• Lead the delivery of a nationally coordinated relief scheduling strategy to maintain frontline capability across Verification Services.
• Build and maintain relationships with MPI shared services to ensure effective service delivery.
• Drive optimisation of business logistics, risk management, and compliant, consistent service outcomes.
• Prepare briefing papers, advice and decision support papers for frontline teams.
• Oversee governance, secretariat and business support functions enabling timely decision making.
• Improve systems, processes, policies and procedures to support efficient service delivery.
• Lead projects and business improvement initiatives from planning through implementation.
• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Business Operations team.
