As Visitor Centre Team Leader, you will lead the delivery of an outstanding visitor experience at Parliament by managing daily operations, tours, and the Parliament Shop. You will:

  • Ensure high-quality visitor services seven days a week, managing staff, resources, and security to meet visitor needs within budget.
  • Oversee tour content, bookings, and visitor enquiries, continuously improving processes and responding to feedback.
  • Lead and motivate a diverse team, fostering collaboration, managing performance, and supporting professional development.
  • Manage merchandising and inventory to create an engaging retail environment.
  • Actively drive the future of our on-site visitor engagement programmes and approaches to ensure we make New Zealand’s democracy accessible to all

This role is ideal for a strategic, customer-focused leader passionate about connecting people with New Zealand’s Parliament.

What You’ll Bring | Tō kete:

This combination of skills and experience will enable you to lead the Visitor Centre team in delivering an exceptional and engaging experience for all visitors.

  • Leadership:Proven success in leading and building high-performing teams, with the ability to motivate through continuous and constructive feedback.
  • Relationship Building:Strong skills in developing and maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communication:Clear and articulate communicator with strong presentation skills and an empathetic listening approach.
  • Proactive and Solutions-Focused:A positive mindset with the ability to think ahead, adapt quickly, and solve problems effectively in dynamic situations.
  • Industry Knowledge:An interest or knowledge of the tourism sector, visitor experiences, and the New Zealand Parliament is highly advantageous.

The starting salary range for this is approximately $90,000 per annum. Appointments will be based on skills and experience (please note, the full salary range extends beyond this to allow for tenure progression).
