Job summary

Woolworths Supermarkets in Canterbury seeks an Assistant Farm Manager to help run daily farm activities and implement policy. You will supervise milking, oversee animal health, manage feed budgets, ensure environmental compliance and support junior staff.

Requirements include at least 2 years in a related field or a Level 4 certificate, police and medical certificates, recent drug test, a valid driver's license, and a clean ACC claim history for the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Milking supervision and maintenance of milking plant and hygiene
• Oversee animal health, calving and mating plans
• Develop and monitor feed budget based on seasonal needs
• Ensure environmental regulations with soil, nutrients, effluent and water
• Support and train junior staff; ensure safe on-farm practices
• Operate and maintain farm vehicles as directed by policy

Job description

Assists with the management of daily activities and implementing farm policies
and plans. Can manage daily planning and staff management in the absence
of the farm manager/owner.

Our client base in the Canterbury Region is looking for motivated & physically fit Assistant farm manager.
Who can lead & perform the following below:

• Milking: Supervises milking for paddock to farm dairy as required. Implements
  routine maintenance schedules, including the milking plant, identifying and
  fixing faults as needed. Maintains hygiene and cleanliness around the dairy.
• Animals: Implements and monitors health, calving and mating plans and
  reports progress. Identifies and treats animal health problems.
• Feed: Develops, implements and monitors the feed budget using seasonal
  feed requirements.
• Environment: Meets environmental regulations through management of soil,
  nutrients, effluent and water efficiently.
• People: Supports and trains junior employees in their development.
  Communicates clearly and openly.
  Machine, Vehicles and Technology: Safely uses and maintains vehicles on
  farm as directed by on-farm policy.
• Health, Safety and Wellbeing: Actively models a health, safety and
  Wellbeing culture and is aware of others in the workplace.
  Requirements
  A minimum of 2 years' experience in a related field or a related Level 4
  certificate or qualification is not required if the work experience is met
• Police & medical certificate required
• Recent drug test
• Driver's license
• Did not claim ACC for the last 3 years
