Job summary

University of Waikato is hiring to establish a Teaching Design and Innovation Studio. The role leads learning design initiatives, pilots innovative teaching practices, and builds capability among academic staff across multiple campuses and international settings.

The salary starts at 115,904 NZD pro-rata per year and is negotiable based on skills and experience; this is a full-time role based at the Hamilton campus, supporting Tauranga campus and international activities.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in higher education teaching with a track record of identifying and scaling teaching innovations.
• Strong background in the scholarship of teaching and learning, mixed-methods evaluation and contemporary pedagogies.
• Experience applying design thinking, innovation frameworks and change management to improve teaching practice.
• Skilled facilitation and community-building across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Scan horizon for emerging pedagogical trends and design pilots to test adoption.
• Develop evaluation frameworks to assess impact and scalability with evidence.
• Establish and coordinate communities of learning across the University.
• Mentor and develop academic staff to build innovation capability.
