Te Manawanui Kindergarten Manawatu/Whanganui

Part time, Fixed term, FTTE up to: 0.6, Start Date: 03/11/2025, End Date: 03/11/2026 (Parental leave)

Early learning / kōhanga reo, Certificated teacher

Te Manawanui Kindergarten is situated in the rural community of Shannon. For the last 18 years the service has sat within the Shannon School grounds offering a pathway from ECE into Primary. The responsive community are committed to supporting and caring for each other. Our very strong relationships with local educational and community services reflects our genuine whānau based approach to education and we regularly participate together in school events.

Hours

As a 0.65 FTE teacher you will work a total of 26 hours per week as follows:

Monday: 8.15am to 4.45pm (includes ½ hour unpaid break)

Tuesday: 8.15am to 4.45pm (includes ½ hour unpaid break)

Wednesday: 12.15pm to 3pm

Thursday: 10.15am to 3pm

Friday: 12.15pm to 2.45pm

Responsibilities and requirements
  • consistently implements te reo and tikanga Māori into our programme
  • works confidently with whānau as partners in their children's education
  • recognises, and is responsive to, what is happening in the session
  • works in partnership with our learning community, especially the attached primary school
  • actively promotes inclusion and diversity, in ways that enhance the mana of all people and ensuring that tamariki are at the heart of decisions
  • demonstrates intentional teaching strategies that are responsive and flexible in supporting tamariki social competence
