Job summary

A secondary education institution in Auckland is seeking a part-time Teacher of itinerant music to provide vocal tutoring for students. You will work four hours per week, preparing students for performance assessments and collaborating with the music department. Registration as a teacher is required. This position is fixed-term from 28/01/2026 to 27/01/2027.

Qualifications

  • Current teacher registration, LAT, or willingness to apply for LAT.
  • Experience preparing NCEA Level 1 to 3 students for vocal assessments is preferred.

Overview

Teacher of itinerant music - singing (Part time, Fixed term, FTTE up to: 0.2). Start Date: 28/01/2026. End Date: 27/01/2027. Location: Howick College, Auckland.

Responsibilities
  • Provide four hours per week as a vocal tutor for Howick College’s music program for 2026.
  • Prepare NCEA Level 1 to 3 students for solo and group performance assessments.
  • Collaborate with the wider music department, encourage all students, communicate effectively, and support ongoing development of vocalists.
  • Teach a wide variety of music styles and tutor vocal ensembles; adapt to student needs.
  • Possess current teacher registration, LAT, or be willing to apply for a LAT.
  • The ability to accompany students in performances on piano and/or guitar is desirable.
