Job summary

Job description

Area / composite (Years 1–15), Certificated teacher.

English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts.

Responsible to: Syndicate Leader / Deputy Principal

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging biology and general science teaching across Y9–13.
  • Prepare students for NCEA assessment in biology.
  • Encourage scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and inquiry-based learning.
  • Act as a whānau / Pastoral Teacher, monitoring and supporting students’ wellbeing and learning pathways.
  • Participate in science-related extracurricular activities and events.

Key tasks

  • Teach core science at junior levels and biology at senior levels.
  • Develop practical laboratory sessions ensuring safe practice at all times.
  • Assess student progress and report accurately to parents and whānau.
  • Incorporate current scientific developments into classroom teaching.
  • Support students in science fairs, competitions, and field trips.
  • Foster strong relationships with whānau and provide pastoral support for a designated group of students.

Start term 1, 2026.
