CRHS staff work with students with physical and mental health conditions that are preventing them from attending school on a regular basis. We aim to help students maintain their educational programmes, and transition back to school or to a tertiary provider.

Daily travel to students’ homes, local schools, health settings and other venues around Manawatū is a component of the job. The role involves working with students one-on-one. Teachers adapt the New Zealand Curriculum, to suit the individual’s learning and health needs, and are responsible for writing, implementing and evaluating individual student programmes.

The role will best suit someone who is flexible, innovative, patient and self-motivated. The preferred applicant will also have a minimum of five years successful experience as a teacher, with in-depth knowledge of the NZ Curriculum from levels 1-8.

Applicants also need to be able to work collaboratively within each student’s wider team. As well as teaching students, the role includes programme planning in conjunction with schools of enrolment and health teams.

Applicants must be an experienced NZ registered teacher with a current practising certificate. A current, full, clean NZ driver licence is required. A private vehicle is required for work travel.

A part-time position could be agreed if it suited both parties.
