Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Health school teacher

Special Duties Allowance

Seeking an adaptable, empathetic and motivated teacher for a rewarding role working with students who have been away from school due to their health conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Work with students one-on-one, adapting the New Zealand Curriculum to suit individual learning and health needs.
  • Write, implement and evaluate individual student programmes across a wide range of levels and subjects to support diverse educational needs.
  • Travel daily to students’ homes, local schools, health settings and other venues around the Hawke’s Bay region, with a focus on the Central Hawke’s Bay area to Dannevirke.
  • Run meetings and maintain close liaison with families, schools, health specialists and agencies.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Experienced NZ registered teacher with a current practising certificate.
  • Current full, clean NZ driver licence; private vehicle required for work travel.
  • Experience teaching in both primary and secondary sectors is preferred; both primary and secondary trained teachers are encouraged to apply.
Details

The HB CRHS teaching team is based in Hastings at Stortford Lodge. The role involves travel to students’ homes, local schools, health settings and other venues around the Hawke’s Bay region. This role supports students to maintain their educational programmes and transition back to school or tertiary providers.

Position commences: Wednesday 28 January 2026 (Term 1), or Monday 26 January 2026 (teacher only day) or as agreed. Ceasing Thursday 10 December 2026.
