Te Kura is seeking a passionate Teacher Aide to support a student in their home-based learning in Putaruru, Waikato. This part-time role (13 hours per week) offers flexible work and a chance to impact a student’s learning journey.

You will support the student with their learning, assist teachers, and help create an inclusive, engaging learning environment, including online activities and assistive technology as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Teacher Aide or similar role supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with students, families, and teachers.
  • Patience, flexibility and genuine passion for supporting students to succeed.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Confidence using a computer and online learning tools.

Responsibilities

  • Support the student with learning as outlined in the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Assist Kaiako in delivering lessons and adapting materials to meet needs.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to help the student reach goals.
  • Support online learning and use assistive technology where required.
  • Foster a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor progress, provide feedback, and keep records; attend team meetings and professional development.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this positionTe Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is looking for a passionate and dedicated Teacher Aide (Kaiāwhina mō te akoranga) to support an ākonga (student) in their home-based learning in Putaruru, Waikato.
