Science

Central Southland College is seeking a number of flexible, dynamic and vision orientated teachers to join our team.

We have vacancies in our technology (design and visual communication/hard materials/foods), agriculture, science, social sciences (history/social studies/psychology), art, drama/dance, English and maths learning areas. We are open to candidates with a mixture of subjects and the flexibility to teach in other areas in the future.

In 2024, after several years of research and planning, we launched our innovative and progressive semester-based curriculum structure, designed to inspire students to become passionate about their learning. Our focus is on promoting engagement and meaningful learning through contextualised courses and allowing students greater choice and agency over the subjects they choose.

This structure also allows teachers to choose to teach in multiple areas across our school and upskill in subjects they are keen to consider. There is also scope to propose new courses each year where staff and student interest allow.

Our school is driven by a focus on genuine student and whānau connection and a desire to explore new learning opportunities as we guide our ākonga through Y9 to 13. Nearly all of our teaching staff are Whānau Teachers who contribute to our pastoral system by looking after the well-being of students and building a sense of whanaungatanga.
