We own and manage the network that delivers electricity to some of the fastest growing areas and over the most diverse terrain in Te Waipounamu South Island. We deliver a safe, reliable and sustainable electricity supply to a population of more than 200,000 residents in Ōtepoti Dunedin, Central Otago/Wānaka and Tāhuna Queenstown. Our purpose is enabling the energy future of our communities.

About the role:
The Talent, Strategy and Development Lead is an opportunity to influence real change in a business that’s moving boldly into its future. You will be responsible for developing people frameworks, policies, and practices that foster high performance, engagement, and retention. You will be instrumental in building organizational capability and creating a culture that supports great people.

Why this role?

  1. Strategic influence: Work closely with the GM People, Culture and Safety, Executive Team, and senior leaders to embed high-performance, inclusive leadership across the business.
  2. Shape the future: Lead capability, leadership development and workforce planning initiatives that support a modern, empowered workplace culture.
  3. Drive culture change: Be a key player in evolving Aurora’s people practices, uplifting leader capability and modernizing the way we attract, retain and grow our people.
  4. People Leadership: You will report to the GM People, Culture and Safety and manage a small and collaborative team of two, enhancing their professional development and fostering an inclusive and outcomes focused team environment.

What you’ll bring:

  1. A strategic, collaborative mindset and a strong track record of leading culture, transformation and people development initiatives.
  2. Experience in talent acquisition, leadership development, and/or organizational development.
  3. Passion for creating inclusive, high-performing environments.
  4. Confidence navigating ambiguity and leading in environments undergoing significant change.

This role can be based out of Aurora Energy’s head office in Dunedin or Cromwell (noting regular travel to Dunedin would be necessary).
