Job summary

Enphase Energy is seeking a Systems Engineer in Christchurch to join a multidisciplinary R&D team developing energy solutions. You will define, integrate, validate, and test system behavior across electrical, electronics, software, and computer systems domains.

The role targets engineers with a Bachelor’s in a related field and about 1+ years of industry experience, who enjoy hands-on testing, automation with Python, and working in a fast-paced international environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline is required.
• Hands-on experience with electrical/electronic or software systems.
• Experience with design verification and automated testing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute Design Verification Testing (DVT) to validate system designs.
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts.
• Create Python-based automation to control lab equipment.
• Investigate failures and perform root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test strategies.

About The Role

As a Systems Engineer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for defining, integrating, validating, and testing the behaviour of Enphase's next-generation energy solutions.

This role is ideal for motivated engineers with a background in electrical, electronics, software, or computer systems engineering who are passionate about renewable energy, innovation, and product development. You will gain hands-on experience working with advanced technologies in a collaborative, fast-paced R&D environment.

What You'll Do

• Execute Design Verification Testing (DVT) to ensure comprehensive validation of system designs.


• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts for software and hardware systems.


• Create Python-based automation solutions to control and integrate laboratory equipment, including grid simulators, power analysers, oscilloscopes, solar array simulators (SAS), programmable loads, and Enphase products.


• Investigate system failures identified during testing and perform root cause analysis.


• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to understand product requirements and develop effective test strategies.


• Manage test results databases and perform test data analysis using both manual techniques and Python-based tools.


• Prepare and maintain test plans, procedures, and verification reports.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.


• Approximately 1+ years of relevant industry experience, or equivalent practical engineering experience.


• Hands-on experience working with electrical, electronic, embedded, or software systems. Engineers who enjoy building, experimenting, and creating are encouraged to apply.


• Working knowledge of software development concepts, including source control, release management, and version control practices.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team environment.

Enphase Energy's New Zealand facilities are located in Middleton and Wigram, Christchurch, serving as key Research and Development centres for our flagship microinverter technology.

Our New Zealand team includes more than 120 engineers and support professionals who work closely with colleagues across California, Texas, and Bangalore to develop and test innovative energy solutions used around the world.
