Job summary

Sealed Air in Porirua is seeking a practical Facilities Maintenance & Recycling Operator to support recycling operations and site facilities maintenance. The role offers hands-on work maintaining a safe, efficient site and contributing to sustainability goals.

You will handle general maintenance tasks, operate hand and power tools, and coordinate with contractors to ensure high standards of safety and upkeep across buildings and grounds.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance, facilities support, trades assistance, or handyman work.
• Confidence using hand and power tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate site recycling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Collect, sort, and prepare recyclable materials; operate balers and compactors.
• Coordinate recycling collections with external providers; monitor waste streams and report.
• Perform general building maintenance and repair work; painting, carpentry, plumbing, and repair tasks.
• Repair doors, windows, locks, shelving, and office furniture; maintain grounds and external areas.
• Assist with office relocations and facility improvement projects; respond to maintenance requests.
• Coordinate and monitor contractors on site; conduct routine inspections and raise corrective actions.
