Job summary

Southland District Council invites applications for a permanent part-time Recycling Centre Technician on Stewart Island. The role is 24 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday, with potential Saturday work and additional hours as required.

You will support operations at the Waste Recovery centre, undertake recycling and refuse collection services, manage public recycling bins, and maintain plant equipment and facilities. Full training is provided; a current full driver's licence is required.

Qualifications

• Physically fit and reliable with a positive attitude.
• Full training provided; no prior waste management experience required.
• Must hold a current full driver’s licence.
• Willingness to learn and adhere to health and safety practices.

About the role:

Southland District Council have a permanent part time opportunity (24 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday, with potential Saturday work and additional hours as required) for a Recycling Centre Technicianto join the team on Stewart Island. Aspart of the role you will be responsible for supporting operations at the Wasterecovery centre, undertaking recycling and refuse collection services, ensuringrecycling bins located in public areas are managed appropriately and undertakingmaintenance of plant equipment and facilities.

Our ideal candidate will be physically fit, reliable, and enjoy working in a hands on environment. Previous waste management experience is not required, as full training will be provided. You'll have a positive attitude, a strong commitment to health and safety, and a willingness to learn. A current full driver's licence is required.
