Job summary

Ormiston Hospital is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join the Ward team on a full-time basis. You will support patients through their hospital stay, collaborating with Registered and Enrolled Nurses to deliver compassionate, safe care.

The role requires a proactive, team-focused approach, the ability to perform patient transfers, and the legal right to work in New Zealand. This is a rostered position with varying shift patterns.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience in a surgical or acute healthcare setting.
• NZQA Level 4 Healthcare Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Ability to safely perform patient transfers, move equipment, and be on your feet for extended periods.
• Proactive, team-focused, and committed to respectful, culturally safe, patient-centred care.

Responsibilities

• Support patients throughout their hospital stay, delivering a safe and comfortable experience.
• Work with Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses to provide high-quality care.
• Assist in maintaining a positive patient experience from admission to discharge.
• Adhere to ward rostering and be flexible with shift patterns.
