Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Health Care Assistant to join Ward 1 Orthopaedics, Surgical Services at Whangarei Hospital. This permanent role offers either part-time or full-time work up to 40 hours per week with rostered shifts Monday to Sunday, including nights.

You will support patient safety and wellbeing in a busy surgical ward, assist with activities of daily living, and perform delegated care duties under a registered nurse's direction.

Competenze

• At least 2 years of secondary schooling.
• Good command of verbal and written English.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Prior healthcare experience and a Health and Wellbeing certificate is advantageous.

• Permanent, part-time or full-time positions working 32-40 hours per week (negotiable) - We have 1.4 FTE in total
• Rostered Shifts Monday to Sunday (including night shifts)
• Support patient safety and wellbeing in a busy surgical ward environment

About the Role

Work under the direction and delegation of a registered nurse (RN) to:

• Provide assistance to patients to meet their activities of daily living, comfort and safety needs
• Perform delegated patient care duties to enhance the satisfaction of the patient
• Housekeeping duties to provide a clean tidy and organised environment.

As an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team, the HCA is not responsible for decision making in terms of patient care, planning, assessment, monitoring or evaluation of care.

About you

• At least 2 years secondary schooling

• Basic computer skills
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Whilst not essential, prior experience in healthcare and a certificate in Health and Wellbeing is advantageous
