Job summary

CORDE in Rolleston (Canterbury) is seeking a Surface Waters Operator for the Water Services Team. The role covers water race schemes, checks, and maintenance across a rural network, requiring self-motivation, energy, and the ability to work alone or in a small team.

The ideal candidate will hold a Class 1 Driver Licence, basic TM understanding, and potentially WTR endorsements. This is a permanent full-time position with a weekly pay cycle and a work vehicle, plus ongoing training opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled checks and reactive maintenance of the surface waters network and urban stock water races.

What's the job? Are you a lover of outdoors? Do you like being self-sufficient and having autonomy in your role? We’re looking for you to join our Water Services Team as a Surface Waters Operator.

About the role | Ko te kaupapa

Based in Rolleston and working across the wider Selwyn District, this role will suit someone who is good at dealing with a wide variety of people, able to work alone and in a small team. You will be self-motivated, conscientious, analytical and have a good understanding of rural protocols.

Key tasks include scheduled checks and reactive maintenance of the surface waters network and urban stock water races. You will be maintaining supply to users, looking after the water race scheme and its river intakes, as well as assisting in general maintenance of the surface waters network.

The successful applicant will need to be willing to learn, have a positive outlook and lots of energy, as this is a physically demanding role. This role enables you to have a high level of ownership, and job satisfaction and to be responsible for your day to day activities.
