te tūranga | About the Role

Raphael Service, located in Somerfield, near the main Hōhepa campus, is home to three young men who are new to flatting together, although each has been part of the Hōhepa community for several years.

  • Henry has a strong interest in horror DVDs, enjoys browsing second-hand stores like Penny Lane, loves swimming, crafts, watching Mr. Bean, and engaging in activities like board games, bingo, and puzzles. He participates in a mix of 1:1 support and group activities during the week.
  • Lachlan enjoys walking, biking, riding his trike, going to the gym, and especially hydroslides. He loves board games, music, bingo, and puzzles. Lachlan enjoys getting photos of himself and admiring them. He receives 1:1 support from a Support Worker on certain days.
  • Max is passionate about his computer, using it for communication, and enjoys dancing, kapa haka, baking, cooking, walking, and swimming. Max attends our day service (LEAP) daily and actively participates in various activities.

We are looking for someone who is patient, a great communicator, and brings a warm sense of humour. The ideal Support Worker will be positive, calm, bubbly, and capable of creating a fun, supportive atmosphere at home.

You will be energetic, empathetic, and able to work alongside these individuals, focusing on creating a rich, diverse life while reading situations, problem-solving, and setting boundaries or giving space as needed.

Daily tasks include supporting with routines, encouraging independence, supporting personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. You should be passionate about helping people access and participate in their wider community. If you're seeking a new challenge, this could be the opportunity for you.

This role offers a salary between $23.50 and $29.10 per hour, based on qualification level, set by pay equity.

Nga haora kua tohua | Rostered hours:

  • Thursday to Saturday, 3pm to 9:30pm, and 9:30pm to 7am (Sleepover)

Hands-on hours: 39 | Sleepover hours: 57

Total Hours per fortnight: 96
