Job summary

Hōhepa Canterbury in Christchurch is hiring a Support Worker to help three ladies live full, engaged lives in a supported environment. You will provide personal care, cooking, medication administration and daily routines while encouraging independence.

No prior experience required; on-the-job training is provided. This role offers fixed rosters, opportunities for professional development and a supportive team in a community-focused setting.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required as on-the-job training is provided.
• Must have NZ driver's licence and be able to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Support with daily routines and encourage independence.
• Assist with personal cares, cooking, medication administration and household tasks.
• Help participants access wider community and engage in activities.
• Rostered hours: Wed-Fri 7am-9am, 4pm-8pm; Sat 10am-4pm; total 48 hours per fortnight.

Mō te tūranga | About the Role

Moana Service is based in Somerfield and is home for three wonderful ladies, aged from their late twenties to mid-thirties, who flat together in a supported independent living environment, where the ladies are empowered to develop life skills and enjoy greater independence.

• Tamara is largely independent and enjoys spending her days exploring the outdoors, engaging in arts and crafts, and spending quality time with her boyfriend. She is passionate about indoor bowls and Jolt dance. Tamara requires some support to maintain her personal care, health, and wellbeing, as well as to enhance her weekly routine and achieve her personal goals.

• Maya is very sociable and thrives in the Hōhepa community. She participates in Hōhepa's day programme during the week, assists the maintenance crew with small tasks. Maya is also proud to be part of a basketball team that plays every Friday night, and she recently scored a two-pointer in her latest game! Maya needs support to maintain her personal care, health, and wellbeing, and to keep a consistent routine.

• Ashley has a part-time volunteer role and is a highly creative individual with a passion for the performing arts, particularly singing. She also enjoys drawing, which allows her to express her creativity. In her free time, Ashley likes gaming, relaxing, and watching YouTube.

You will be energetic, empathetic and able to work alongside this personfocussing on creating a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem solve and apply boundaries or offer space.

Daily tasks include supporting with daily routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth. You will have the confidence to support personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. You will be passionate about supporting and extending people’s ability to access and be part of their wider community. If you are looking for a new challenge this could be the opportunity for you.

This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependant on qualification level, pays between $23.95 and $30 per hour.

• Wednesday to Friday 7am to 9am, 4pm to 8pm

• Saturday 10am to 4pm

Total Hours per fortnight: 48
