Care & Support Worker – Kaiawhina, Flat Bush

Mō te tūnga | About the role

We are seeking a dedicated care and support worker to join our professional team. The role involves supporting both male and female Tangata (Care recipients) with intellectual disabilities, providing high-level 1:1 care to assist them on their rehabilitation journey. Responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting with physical and personal care to ensure good hygiene, such as washing and showering.
  2. Supporting with cooking, household cleaning, and maintenance to keep the home safe and healthy.
  3. Administering medication.
  4. Driving to appointments, gym classes, and supermarkets.
  5. Performing various duties to support their independent lifestyle.

It is important that you can work on a rotating roster including weekends. The shifts are:

  • 7am - 3pm
  • 1pm - 9pm
  • 3pm - 11pm (sleepover)
Ko wai koe | About You

This role is unique and vital to the care of our Tangata. You should be able to work well with different people, as our Tangata lead active lifestyles. Key qualities include:

  • Qualification in health and wellbeing, community support, mental health, or disability sectors is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Confidence, practicality, and good listening skills to address the needs of Tangata.
  • Previous experience in personal care is desirable.
  • A solution-focused and empathetic approach to interactions.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift and be on your feet most of the day.

Please note:

  • A full, clean Class 1 driver’s license with no restrictions is mandatory.
  • You must reside in and be legally entitled to work in New Zealand for at least 18 months.
