Job summary

YMCA Taranaki Education in Spotswood, New Plymouth, seeks a Part-Time Tutor to support rangatahi through their learning journey with pastoral care and tutoring. You’ll help learners stay engaged, build confidence and progress in line with NZ education standards and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The role is 24 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, fostering a safe, inclusive classroom, with a focus on clear communication, planning and health and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience with rangatahi in pastoral care or tutoring.
• Ability to engage and uplift learners from diverse backgrounds.
• Understanding NZ education standards and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Empathy, patience, and professionalism.
• Strong time management, administration and communication skills.
• Proficiency with digital tools and systems.
• Commitment to health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring and pastoral support to rangatahi.
• Engage and motivate learners from diverse backgrounds.
• Support learning in line with NZ education standards and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Maintain high health and safety standards in the learning environment.
• Utilise digital tools to support instruction and admin tasks.
