Support Officer - Community Governance Team

About the team

About the role

Relationships are everything in this role, you will play a key role in providing administrative and secretarial support across the Community Board and Community Governance Team as well as coordinating the delivery of community projects and events as required.

The Spreydon-Cashmere-Heathcote Community Governance team interact at a grass-roots community level right through to the political level, working directly with the Community Board who make some pretty hefty decisions for the good of our communities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Processing funding applications from community to deliver on their goals and aspirations
  • Providing end to end support to the community board to support their decision-making processes
  • Co-ordinating and delivering events to celebrate the community
  • Providing amazing administrative support to the advisors in the local team
  • Maintaining the Community Webpage
  • Creation of short videos of community projects and Community Board events

You will bring:

  • At least four years secretarial and administration experience. Ideally with local government experience
  • Given the key nature of this role, we need someone who is a quick learner and who can hit the ground running
  • You'll have excellent attention to detail, great computer skills (including Microsoft Office suite) and proven experience in preparing and putting documents on the web, including adding and editing content on a website
  • Your ability to work independently means you have the initiative to seek out what can and needs to be done
  • The nature of this environment means that priorities can change instantaneously, requiring you to adapt and respond accordingly - often within tight timeframes
  • Digitally savvy, with experience in creating video content would be ideal

  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday, full-time 37.5-40 hours per week

  • Location: This position is primarily based at the Multicultural Recreation and Community Centre
  • Salary: The salary band for this position goes from $67,635 to $75,150 per annum based on a 40 hour week
