Role summary

Halter is scaling global production of connected livestock wearables while continuing to make meaningful product and manufacturing improvements. Our engineering decisions are well owned; now we need a dedicated owner for the systems, records, and planning visibility those decisions rely on.

As PLM/Configuration and Documentation Control Manager, you will own the structure that keeps product, process, supplier, validation, forward BOM, and change records complete, traceable, current, and easy to use. You'll help Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, suppliers, and contract manufacturers work from a clear, reliable source of truth - including a forward view of upcoming BOM changes and their likely build impact.

This is not an engineering role or a technical approval role. "Manager" means ownership of systems, records, document sets, and coordination - not people management initially, and not authority over engineering change decisions.

What you'll do
  • Own the health of our Arena PLM deployment, including configuration, lifecycles, revisions, roles, permissions, supplier access, onboarding, training, and data quality.

  • Maintain a weekly forward BOM plan update for Supply Chain, giving clear-to-build planning a reliable view of upcoming BOM changes, validation state, implementation timing, supply risk, and build impact.

  • Keep Onshape → Arena and Altium → Arena traceability reliable, and manage the controlled publication of released documents to Google Workspace as read-only, clearly versioned copies.

  • Maintain BOM, part-number, revision, lifecycle, validation, waiver/deviation, supplier-document, and forward BOM records so the current controlled state and upcoming build impact are always clear.

  • Build and run practical registers for waivers, changes in flight, document currency, missing records, overdue items, supplier-document status, and forward BOM planning.

  • Co-define release-boundary conventions with Engineering and Quality, then keep those standards easy to follow, consistently applied, and honoured across the relevant teams.

  • Provide clear, useful status reporting so decision owners can act on facts instead of hunting through systems.

What we're looking for
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through; you notice missing fields, stale revisions, quietly expired waivers, incomplete records, unclear ownership, and BOM changes that could affect upcoming builds.

  • Hands-on experience administering PLM, ERP, QMS, document-control, technical-records, clinical-data, aviation-records, library/information-management, or another structured, high-consequence records environment.

  • Arena experience is valuable, but the discipline matters more than the platform.

  • Enough technical literacy to be credible with Engineering and Supply Chain, including BOMs, revisions, HPN/MPN, traceability, validation state, controlled documents, waivers/deviations, and clear-to-build planning.

  • Strong written communication, sound judgement, and the ability to follow up persistently and warmly until open items are closed.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally to suppliers and production sites when required. This is expected to be infrequent, but can be valuable for supplier onboarding, document-control setup, audit/readiness work, or understanding production issue context.
