Job summary

Veolia Australia & New Zealand is seeking an experienced Supervisor - Sludge Minimisation Facility to lead operations at New Zealand’s first Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP) facility at Moa Point, Wellington. You’ll oversee a team of 5 and drive operational excellence, transferring global best practices to local teams.

The role requires a degree in Engineering or equivalent, 5+ years in wastewater treatment, and strong leadership with SCADA experience.

Qualifications

• Engineer degree or technical certifications in wastewater treatment or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years in wastewater treatment operations (preferably with Veolia)
• Experience in complex processing plants with gas, steam and heat integration
• Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience
• Proficiency in SCADA and control systems

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the SMF operational team, fostering a proactive safety culture
• Ensure optimal performance of all SMF processes, including the THP
• Collaborate with the Moa Point WWTP team to ensure integrated plant performance
• Implement process improvements and operational optimisations
• Manage safety initiatives, compliance, and emergency preparedness
• Transfer specialised technical knowledge and develop local capability
• Monitor performance metrics and maintain accurate operational records
• Deputise for the Wastewater Treatment Manager as required

What you’ll be responsible for

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the SMF operational team, fostering a proactive safety culture

What you’ll need to be successful

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Engineering or technical certifications in wastewater treatment, OR equivalent experience managing O\&M teams in processing plants with gas\/steam systems
• Minimum 5 years in wastewater treatment operations (preferably with Veolia)
• Experience in complex processing plants with gas, steam, and heat integration systems
• Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience
• Proficiency in SCADA and control systems
