Job summary

Phocas Software in Christchurch invites four summers interns to work with experienced engineers on real product challenges. You’ll contribute to two projects and gain hands-on experience with modern tools while building skills applicable to analytics and finance domains.

You’ll be mentored daily, collaborate in pairs, and learn through practical tasks, demonstrations, and code reviews. The internship runs for 10 weeks starting late November, with in-office work and strong learning opportunities

Qualifications

• Penultimate year of software engineering or CS degree.
• Based in New Zealand with valid working rights.
• Curious and keen to learn.
• Loves collaborating with others to solve challenging problems.
• Outstanding academic record or interesting personal projects, industry experience, or a unique hobby.
• Interest in data analytics and/or accounting & finance.

Responsibilities

• Work on the Synthetic Data Generator project: turn plain-language prompts into a working synthetic database, design interface, build deployment pipeline and stress-test for misuse.
• Build the data model and depreciation logic for Resource Planning (Capex & Fixed Assets) and develop a front-end for asset schedules review.
