A conservation organization is seeking a practical and energetic individual to support visitor management and accommodation on Rotoroa Island in Auckland. This 6-month role involves various tasks including cleaning, data entry, assisting with events, and grounds maintenance. Accommodation is provided, and the position requires strong communication skills and a can-do attitude. Applicants must have a current driver’s license and be available from November 2025.
Rotoroa Island is a privately owned island in the southern Hauraki Gulf in Auckland. It is 80 hectares in size, owned by the Salvation Army and leased by the Rotoroa Island Trust, which has undertaken a significant restoration programme. Rotoroa is open to the public and offers diverse native wildlife, beaches, tracks and visitor facilities including a visitor centre, small shop and accommodation for 47 people in an 18-bed bunk room style house and 3 furnished houses.
Rotoroa is a busy place in summer. We are looking for a fit, practical and energetic person to undertake a 6-month contract from November 2025 to Easter 2026. You will work with our island manager and a team of volunteers but may also work alone, so you must be highly organised, trustworthy and efficient.
