Job summary

GHD is seeking Structural Engineering Interns to join the Summer Intern cohort in Tauranga, commencing in November 2026. You will support the design and delivery of structural projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, sustainable solutions.

We welcome graduates or students finishing by end of 2026 who are based in Tauranga and ready to start with our Intern Program cohort in November 2027.

Qualifications

• You have or will complete a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering by end of 2026.
• Interest in structural design and the built environment, with willingness to learn NZ standards and relevant software.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and adaptable approach.

Our Architecture, Structures & Digital Design team are looking for additional Structural Engineering Interns to join GHD’s Summer Intern cohort, commencing in November 2026. Opportunities are available inTauranga.

As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will:

• Support the design and delivery of structural engineering projects across a range of buildings and infrastructure sectors
• Assist with technical calculations, structural modelling, drawings, reports and project documentation
• Work with architects, engineers and multidisciplinary teams to develop safe, sustainable and practical solutions
• Use engineering software and digital tools to support project design and delivery
• Participate in design reviews, site visits and team meetings, with guidance from experienced team members
• Build your technical and consulting skills through hands‑on project experience, mentoring and formal development

What we’re looking for

You’ll be a great fit if you:

• You have graduated, or will complete your studies by the end of 2026, with a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• You have an interest in structural design and the built environment, with a willingness to learn relevant engineering software and New Zealand standards
• You bring strong communication, teamwork and problem‑solving skills, along with a proactive and adaptable approach
• Are based in Tauranga, and ready to start alongside our Intern Program cohort in November 2027

Our two-year Graduate Development Program is designed to give you a smooth start to your consulting career. Alongside your peers, managers and mentors, we’ll help you detangle any challenges along the way. You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across other disciplines within GHD, as well as with our clients, and connect across the business to build your technical capability and consulting skills.
