Job summary

Cardrona Ski Resort Ltd in Wanaka is seeking enthusiastic Hostel Assistants to join Brownston Hostel for the upcoming summer season. You will welcome guests, manage bookings, and keep the hostel clean and safe while living on-site.

This live-in role includes on-call shifts 3–5 nights per week, opportunities to lead in reception or housekeeping, and access to subsidised accommodation plus on-mountain discounts.

Qualifications

• Hostel customer service and/or reception experience required.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills expected.
• Team player with initiative and a positive attitude.
• Preferred: First aid or fire warden training, experience working unsupervised or in small teams.

Responsibilities

• Front desk reception: check-ins, check-outs, guest enquiries, and payments.
• Managing online and direct bookings, including room allocations.
• Providing local information and booking summer experiences.
• Housekeeping duties: cleaning rooms and communal areas.
• Fire warden responsibilities and overnight safety support.
• Reporting maintenance issues and assisting with stock ordering.
• Opportunity to lead in reception, reservations, housekeeping or maintenance.

Are you ready to be part of a crew that delivers epic experiences with our mountains and our people? We're looking for enthusiastic and hardworkingHostel Assistantsto join our team at Brownston Hostel in Wanaka for the upcoming summer season.

As a Hostel Assistant, you'll be at the heart of our guest experience - providing warm welcomes, managing bookings, and keeping our hostel clean, safe, and running smoothly. This is alive-in position, with on-call responsibilities 3-5 nights per week, and you'll play a key role in maintaining a secure and supportive environment for guests and staff.

Please note: these are live-in only positions, and applicants must have the current right to work in New Zealand. Priority will be given to those available for the full summer season.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Front desk reception: check-ins, check-outs, guest enquiries, and payments.
• Managing online and direct bookings, including room allocations.
• Providing local information and booking summer experiences.
• Housekeeping duties: cleaning rooms and communal areas.
• Fire warden responsibilities and overnight safety support.
• Reporting maintenance issues and assisting with stock ordering.
• Opportunity to support the hostel management by taking lead in either reception and reservations, housekeeping or building upkeep and maintenance
