Job summary

The University of Auckland is seeking experienced General Practitioners to join our supportive team to provide patient-centred primary health care to a diverse student population. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, support physical and mental wellbeing, and contribute to preventative care, early intervention and holistic student health within the university setting.

Qualifications

• Registration as a medical practitioner in New Zealand with a current NZMC Practising Certificate and indemnity insurance.
• Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
• At least two years’ experience in General Practice, ideally including primary or emergency care.
• Current CPR or Advanced Life Support certification.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
• Experience working with young adults in a university setting preferred.
• Proficiency with clinical systems such as MedTech or similar practice management software.

Responsibilities

• Providing skilled health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services in line with current best practice and professional standards
• Delivering patient-centred care that supports both physical and mental wellbeing
• Working collaboratively with nurses, counsellors, and other health professionals to provide integrated care
• Managing referrals, documentation, follow-up care, and case management in a timely and professional manner
• Supporting preventative health initiatives, including screening programmes, vaccinations, and health education
• Providing travel health advice and vaccinations where required
• Assessing aegrotat applications and providing appropriate academic health advocacy
• Building strong relationships with internal and external healthcare providers and referral agencies
