About Project Structure Ltd
We are a successful, Christchurch-based structural engineering consultancy with an aim to produce quality design with clear drawings and documents that simplify the construction process for everyone involved.
Our team currently consists of 7 members, including four experienced Chartered Professional Engineers (CPEng). This will help guarantee direct mentorship and technical excellence.
We pride ourselves on a collaborative, flexible work environment and encourage a 9-day fortnight. PSL ensure that our staff regularly get on-site to see their designs realized first-hand.
The Opportunity
This full-time role is perfect for an engineer with 2+ years of Structural Engineering experience. You will play a key role in the design, analysis, and delivery of structural solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Conducting structural design and analysis of architectural homes, renovations and exposure to the many other types of structural engineering work undertaken by small design offices in New Zealand such as shallow geotechnical testing, retaining walls, structural strengthening, and the occasional design of commercial / industrial buildings.
Ensuring strict compliance with relevant New Zealand building codes, regulations, and standards.
Helping to prepare comprehensive engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
Shallow soil testing, using a Scala Penetrometer and Hand Auger.
Undertaking assessments and design for repairs of earthquake-damaged buildings and / or general strengthening.
Collaborating closely with architects, project managers, and construction teams to ensure smooth implementation of engineering solutions.
What We’re Looking For
Education: A Washington Accord degree in Structural Engineering.
Experience: At least 2 years of demonstrated experience as a Structural Engineer, preferably within the New Zealand consulting industry.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in structural analysis software, such as Spacegass.
Knowledge: Strong familiarity with New Zealand building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Personal Skills: Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and critical thinking abilities, combined with effective communication skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Professional Status: Working towards or possessing CPEng status is preferred, but not essential, as we will support your journey.
Start Date: We are ideally looking for a candidate to start in October 2026.
