Job description

Planter (May for 3 weeks Fixed Term)

We are seeking local residents from the Matakana/Warkworth area for a fixed-term planting position in May 2025, lasting approximately 3 weeks. Applicants must be either NZ Residents or Citizens, or possess a valid work visa or working holiday visa. Applications from individuals without the legal right to work will not be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Plant strawberries into holes in plastic mounds and plant new season crops using provided tools.
  2. Set up and move irrigation pipes; maintain ditches as required.
  3. Perform general maintenance tasks as needed.
Hours of Work

Work hours and days vary depending on weather conditions and plant supply. The roster may include Monday to Sunday shifts, with 5-6 days of work per week. Flexibility is essential as work days and start times change daily and weekly, with schedules communicated the day before.

Key Requirements
  • Ability to bend for extended periods.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination; capable of performing repetitive, laborious tasks involving lifting, bending, and kneeling.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work efficiently and methodically.
  • Good physical fitness.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions (wet weather gear provided; personal gear optional).
  • Flexibility regarding work days and hours, which depend on weather and plant availability. Schedule details will be provided daily.
