Hamilton City Council seeks a Team Leader – Urban and Spatial Planning to guide and shape the city’s growth and development. You will lead a skilled team, drive best-practice urban planning, and cultivate relationships with elected members, iwi, developers, and business units to deliver impactful outcomes for Hamilton.

The role requires strategic vision, strong leadership, and a track record of delivering complex projects within relevant legislation, including Local Government Act 2002.

Qualifications

Senior planning leadership experience with practical implementation of planning legislation.
Experience leading diverse professional teams and managing complex urban projects.
Strong engagement with internal/external stakeholders and hearings.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and technical direction.
Lead and grow Council’s approach to best practice urban planning.
Promote and model collaboration sub-regionally.
