Job summary

Avanti Finance Group is seeking an experienced Head of Treasury to lead strategy, operations, liquidity management and risk across New Zealand and Australia. You’ll work closely with the Group CFO and the Head of Funding to shape funding, balance sheet strategy and capital efficiency.

You will influence executive decisions, drive governance, and build scalable treasury capabilities while guiding teams through complex financial scenarios and market conditions.

Qualifications

• Significant treasury leadership experience within banking, finance or financial services.
• Deep expertise across Treasury Operations, liquidity management, balance sheet management and financial risk management.
• Strong understanding of Treasury governance, risk management and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience supporting Executive Leadership Teams, ALCO and Board reporting.

Responsibilities

• Developing and executing Treasury strategy aligned with Group objectives.
• Providing Treasury expertise and strategic advice to Executive leaders, ALCO and the Board.
• Leading liquidity management, cash forecasting and Treasury Operations.
• Managing liquidity, interest rate and foreign exchange risk within approved frameworks.
• Overseeing Treasury governance, controls, policies and reporting obligations.
• Partnering with business leaders to translate Treasury insights into commercial decision-making.
• Supporting balance sheet optimisation and funding strategy initiatives.
• Leading stress testing, scenario modelling and financial risk analysis.
• Driving continuous improvement across Treasury systems, automation, reporting and processes.
• Building and leading a high-performing Treasury team focused on accountability and collaboration.
