Job summary

DOC seeks a driven Supplier Advisor to join the Conservation Services category within the Procurement Team. The role covers the full procurement lifecycle—from strategy to supplier management—supporting frontline conservation work across Aotearoa.

Based in Wellington with flexibility for other locations, this fixed-term, full-time position runs until 29 October 2027 to provide parental leave cover. Salary ranges between NZD 80,695 and NZD 101,951 per year, depending on skills and experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' relevant experience in procurement/category management.
• Strong analytical skills to review complex commercial scenarios.
• Experience in influencing and negotiating with stakeholders and suppliers.
• Experience in managing contractual processes with robust documentation.
• Strong relationship-building and partnering experience with internal and external stakeholders.
• A tertiary qualification in procurement/commercial sector preferred.
• Understanding Māori Crown relationship importance to DOC.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market research and spend analysis to identify trends and savings opportunities.
• Partner with business groups to understand value-for-money outcomes and category objectives.
• Lead end-to-end procurement processes: planning, RFx, tender evaluations, and contract negotiation.
• Advise on procurement strategy, approach-to-market options, and cross-agency initiatives.
• Review and draft contracts to ensure feasibility and alignment with needs.
• Manage supplier performance, preferred supplier lists, and panel arrangements.
• Support development/improvement of procurement tools, templates, and processes.
