MAS offers a broad Management Accountant role based in Wellington or Auckland, focusing on accurate reporting, robust financial controls and meaningful insights. This is a permanent position within a collaborative finance team, driving business partnering and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, commerce or a related discipline.
• CA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification, or be actively working towards one.
• At least three to five years' experience in financial accounting, management accounting, audit or commercial finance.
• Experience preparing financial reports, budgets, forecasts and reconciliations.
• Strong financial analysis skills and the ability to turn information into practical insights and recommendations.
• Knowledge of accounting standards, statutory reporting requirements and financial governance.
• Experience supporting annual financial statements and audit processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using financial reporting or ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and analysing monthly financial results, including identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
• Producing accurate and timely management reports, Executive reporting and Board papers.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Monitoring performance against budgets and forecasts, investigating variances and recommending appropriate actions.
• Preparing annual financial statements and supporting working papers.
• Leading statutory returns and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Researching, interpreting and applying accounting standards and technical accounting guidance.
• Preparing financial models, business cases and cost-benefit analysis.
• Coordinating external audit activities and acting as a key contact for auditors.
• Maintaining effective financial controls and supporting strong financial governance.
• Partnering with leaders across MAS to provide commercially focused financial advice.
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, controls and reporting.
