Job summary

Napier City Council is seeking a Drainage Serviceperson to maintain and repair Napier’s stormwater and wastewater networks across the city. Based at the Onekawa depot, you’ll perform planned and reactive maintenance, operate drainage equipment and respond to faults, with opportunities for progression and training.

The role is permanent, full-time (42.5 hours/week, Monday–Friday). Trainees welcome with starting pay between $28.68–$29.90/hr plus KiwiSaver; experienced applicants earn

Qualifications

• Experience in drainage, civil construction, utilities, maintenance or similar hands-on environment preferred.
• Full driver’s licence; heavy vehicle or WTR licences advantageous.
• Willingness to develop relevant infrastructure/drainage qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair Napier’s stormwater and wastewater networks.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance and repairs.
• Operate plant and equipment for drainage work.
• Respond to customer requests promptly and professionally.
• Be available for rostered call-outs and respond to urgent drainage issues.
