Speech Language Therapist - Lower Hutt Region

Full-time, Permanent

We are seeking a speech language therapist to join our team at Kimi Ora School, a specialist school for students aged 5-21 with complex needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside other staff in a transdisciplinary manner to enhance the learning of our students. Our school is situated in Naenae with five satellites in the surrounding area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment, planning, and implementation of programs for students with diverse and complex communication needs.
  • Working with pre-intentional communication, high and low tech alternative and augmentative communication systems.
  • Development of language and literacy, and spoken language.
  • Assessment and management of dysphagia.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Speech Language Therapy with a current NZ Practising Certificate.
  • Current EMS accreditation for communication is expected to be in place once employed.
  • Full NZ driver’s license.

Desired Attributes:

  • Experience in the disability sector/school environment is an advantage.
  • Ability to build and sustain high-trust relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Solutions-focused approach.

Role Information:

  • Terms and conditions, including base salary, are set by the NZEI Primary Teachers Collective Agreement.
  • 52-week position; with work during school holidays for planning and preparation.
  • Recent graduates are welcome.
