Job summary

New Zealand Qualifications Authority is seeking a Specialist Workforce Editor to lead editorial, publishing, and content production for national qualifications and resources. You will collaborate with QDFs, panel members, and QA teams to ensure content is accurate, accessible, and fit for purpose.

The role combines editorial quality with project coordination and digital publishing, supporting learners, assessors, and educators across New Zealand.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in writing, editing, publication design, and content production.
• Strong desktop and web publishing skills.
• Experience producing digital and multimedia content including image/video editing.
• Project coordination experience across deadlines and stakeholders.
• Understanding of quality assurance and continuous improvement.

About the Role

As a Specialist Workforce Editor, you will provide expert editorial, publishing, and content production services that support the development, review, and delivery of New Zealand qualifications and assessor resources. Working closely with Qualifications Development Facilitators (QDFs), specialist workforce panel members, and quality assurance teams, you will help ensure all published content is accurate, engaging, accessible, and fit for purpose.

This is a varied role that combines editorial excellence, project coordination, digital publishing, and stakeholder engagement to support nationally significant qualifications and learning resources.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

• Edit and develop content that enhances usability, accessibility, and value for assessors and learners.
• Apply NZQA style standards, plain language principles, accessibility requirements, web standards, and SEO best practice.
• Support subject matter experts and contributors to produce high-quality publications and learning resources.
• Coordinate publishing schedules and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Ensure rigorous quality assurance processes are followed so that all resources are accurate, consistent, and error-free.
• Contribute to the development of digital, video, audio, and other multimedia learning resources.
• Build productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Extensive experience in writing, editing, publication design, and content production.
• Strong desktop and web publishing skills.
• Experience producing digital and multimedia content, including image and video editing.
• Demonstrated success coordinating projects and delivering quality outputs across competing deadlines.
• Knowledge of quality assurance practices and continuous improvement principles.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Understanding of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and cultural responsiveness.
• Knowledge of the New Zealand education system.
• Understanding of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
• Intercultural communication skills within educational environments.

Qualifications

A qualification at Level 7 on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
