About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Specialist Otorhinolaryngologist (ORL Surgeon) to join the expanding ORL team at Bay of Plenty – Hauora a Toi. This 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) role supports service delivery across both Tauranga and Whakatāne Hospitals, serving a wide population across the Bay of Plenty.

As a valued member of the ORL team, you will provide acute and planned care across both adult and paediatric populations. You will also contribute to clinical supervision, support junior medical staff (including one Registrar and one House Officer), and participate equally in the on-call roster.

About the Team/Service/Location

You will be part of a supportive and growing Otorhinolaryngology team delivering services across the stunning coastal region of the Bay of Plenty. The ORL service is a small but growing team committed to delivering high quality, equitable ENT care. Our service operates across two sites, supported by a network of committed clinicians, surgical teams, and clinical leaders.

About You

We seek an experienced and qualified ORL Surgeon with a commitment to equity, access, and collaborative care. You will work well across specialties, bring clear clinical judgement to complex cases, and value teamwork as much as technical skill.

What You Will Bring
  • Fellowship or qualifications suitable for vocational registration in ORL with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • Eligibility for vocational registration within two years (if not already registered).
  • A team-focused mindset with a strong commitment to equitable service delivery.
  • Clinical experience in both paediatric and adult ENT care.
  • Ability to contribute to the acute roster and support junior medical staff.
  • Cultural competence and a commitment to improving outcomes for Māori and underserved populations.
