A specialized educational institution in Auckland seeks experienced specialist teachers to support students with intellectual disabilities in mainstream schools. The role involves teaching, assessing, and developing individualized programs for ORS students, collaborating closely with class teachers and support staff. Due to roll growth in our Outreach Services, Mt Richmond Special School is seeking experienced specialist teachers skilled in working with students with intellectual disabilities. These positions will start in term 1, 2026.
The successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills and be passionate about supporting students in the Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS) in mainstream schools. The special needs outreach teacher works as part of the student’s support team, which includes their class teachers, MOE Special Education staff, support staff and family/whānau.

The base salary range for trained and registered teachers is dependent on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. An individual’s actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed (see Part 3: Remuneration in the 2022-2025 PTCA collective agreement).
