We are now hiring a Manager – Data Engineering, a leadership role reporting to the Director of the organization and leading a team of 12 to 15 Data Engineers and 1 Cloud Engineer.

Salary range – NZ$180,000 – NZ$200,000 per annum based on experience and background (flexible for the right fit, let’s talk)

Overview

Role: The role is 25% hands-on billable consulting (lead large, complex projects): 25% presales (dealing with RFPs wherever necessary) and 50% team management (handling escalations, regular reviews, issues, admin & timesheets, approving leaves and other people issues, career development initiatives). Lead the development of Data Engineering Solutions. Provide project management and administration on complex projects, ensuring oversight of schedules, budgets and timelines. Maintain and nurture excellent ongoing client relationships. Contribute to the continued development of the internal data engineering team’s capabilities. Document industry best practices for Data Engineering & Analytics solutions. Assist the sales team in selling data engineering solutions to customers. Create service offerings and solutions based on the NZ market. Demonstrate leadership and foster team culture. Onsite role: 5 days a week (as a leader).

Responsibilities

• Provide project management and administration on complex projects, ensuring schedules, budgets and timelines are met.
• Maintain and nurture excellent ongoing client relationships.
• Contribute to the continued development of internal data engineering team’s capability.
• Document industry best practice for Data Engineering & Analytics solutions.
• Assist the sales team in selling data engineering solutions to customers.
• Create service offerings and solutions based on the NZ market.
• Provide leadership and shape team culture.
• Onsite role: 5 days a week as a leader.

You’re likely the one if you:

• Experience and a solid background in Data Engineering & Analytics, Data Warehousing, Data Construct, Multi-Dimensional Data Modelling.
• Experience with most of the following skillsets: SQL, GCP, AWS, Azure, SAP, Python, Snowflakes, Scala, CICD, JIRA, Github; DBT (Important).
• Experience with at least 2 of Azure, AWS & GCP (mandatory); GCP, AWS & DBT preferred due to market demand.
• Presentation/Data visualization: Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik, Google Data Studio (Important).
• Direct team management / leadership experience (mandatory).
• From a consulting background (mandatory).
• Lead big / complex projects (Important).
• Stable work history; avoid being a job hopper.
• Good communications (all forms) since the role is client facing.
• Passionate about Data & Analytics and excited by new & interesting projects in Data, Analytics & AI.
