Job description

FlexiTime – Wellington Central, North Island

As a Solutions Consultant, you'll be the technical and functional expert on Karmly Workforce for prospective and existing customers. Pre-sales engagement is critical to this role — you'll dig into a customer's complex environment of systems and processes, understand their pay rules, rostering and billing requirements, and shape how it all comes together in Karmly Workforce, before handing a well-scoped solutions over to the Implementation team to deliver. You'll be a trusted advisor to clients on workforce management and labour hire best practice — equally comfortable in a boardroom with senior stakeholders and on the ground with hands-on owner-operators, payroll and operations teams, and able to see requirements through each of these lenses. This is a role for someone who's genuinely energised by ambiguity and by driving change.

Key responsibilities

Act as the lead solutions expert on Karmly Workforce during pre-sales, running discovery sessions and tailored demos alongside the sales team

Dig into a customer's complex current environment — existing systems, spreadsheets, pay rules, rostering and billing processes — to build a clear picture of what needs to come together in Karmly Workforce

Translate complex business requirements (award interpretation, pay rules, rostering logic, client billing structures, compliance workflows) into a well-scoped Karmly Workforce solution

Prepare well scoped & documented customer engagements to the Implementation team, who lead detailed configuration, Proof of Value and delivery so that we can reduce the time to go live and billing

Build strong relationships with client stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on workforce management and labour hire best practice

Move comfortably between boardroom conversations with senior stakeholders and hands-on conversations with owner-operators, payroll teams and operations admin — viewing requirements through each of these lenses

Troubleshoot complex configuration and integration questions raised during pre-sales, escalating product gaps to Product/Engineering

Gather and relay customer and market feedback to Product Management to help shape the Karmly Workforce roadmap

Keep current on payroll compliance, modern awards/agreements and labour hire regulation across the markets Karmly Workforce serves (initially NZ and Australia)

About you

4+ years' experience in a solutions consulting, pre-sales, systems configuration or similar customer-facing technical role — ideally within SaaS, payroll, workforce management or HRIS

The ability to demonstrate a complex product with clarity and confidence, and to cut through ambiguity to what actually matters

A genuine interest in and understanding of accounting principles — a relevant accounting qualification is highly regarded

Practical understanding and hands-on experience of labour hire operations — you know how a labour hire business actually runs, day to day

A strong grasp of payroll, rostering, timesheet and client billing processes, and the confidence to interpret complex pay and award rules

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to lead conversations with senior client stakeholders as well as hands-on owner-operators, payroll teams and operations admin

Genuine comfort working through ambiguity, and the drive to champion change within a customer's business

Experience with and, ideally, exposure to APIs or third-party integrations (payroll, accounting or HR systems)

Exposure to applicant tracking systems (ATS) such as JobAdder, Tracker or Bullhorn

Familiarity with AI tools and agentic workflows (e.g. Claude, MCP servers) and an interest in applying them to solution design and customer problem-solving
