Job description

Your Role

We’re excited to be offering 4 summer internships for aspiring Software Engineers to join us in our modern, spacious office in Dunedin’s warehouse precinct. You’ll be joining either our Education Development team working on Lt (our online learning platform) OR our Research Development team working on LabChart (our data acquisition and analysis software).

Our development work uses modern front-end technologies, but don’t worry if you’re not familiar with these yet. You will be given all the training you need, and paired with a mentor who will show you the ropes. By the end of your internship, you will have contributed to our software products, and your work will be shipped to ADInstruments’ customers. An internship with us will get your foot in the door of the tech industry.

The Team

We value diversity of all kinds, and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team where we learn from each other. Our team is collaborative and curious and loves working on new, innovative changes to our products. You’ll be joining a team who love to deliver value to our customers. We’re excited to welcome you this summer and introduce you to the ADInstruments culture of passionate people who love science, learning and creating world-class products.

The Business

At ADI we are making science easier. We're a leader in our field and have the team to make it happen. We are passionate about science and technology and finding solutions to the global health trilemma—reducing the burden of chronic disease and expanding healthcare capacity.

You will be part of a company that prides itself on global collaboration and its inclusive employee culture. At ADI you will have the opportunity to work within a flexible, hybrid working environment with the Dunedin office located in the heart of a modern cafe precinct. You will have ample opportunity for learning and development, and have hands on support.

Skills and Experience

This internship is open to students who are currently studying, or have just completed, a tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. We are an Agile development team, so you should feel comfortable working and contributing within a group context, sharing ideas, solving problems and working towards a common goal.

We’re excited about you because you’ll bring:

  • You will currently be studying, or have completed study <12 months ago, a tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related field
  • Experience with some or all of Javascript, HTML, CSS
  • Some knowledge of, and a desire to learn, the following skills and tools:
    • Working in an Agile software development team
    • Writing code that is tested through automation
    • Javascript frameworks such as React, MobX, Jest
    • Designing and creating a solution based on a customer problem
  • Ability to work well in a group, share ideas and problem solve
  • A considerate, pragmatic and organised approach to your work

These skills aren’t a requirements checklist. If you have only some of the above but would also bring something additional to our team, we’d love to talk!

These are paid, full-time internships that will run from mid-November 2026 to late-January 2027.
