JobAdder Operations Pty in Auckland is seeking a Software Engineer for an initial three-month contract to build an end-to-end data interface for experimental equipment. You will prototype rapidly and work closely with hardware teams to turn ideas into working software.
Requirements include strong Python skills and experience with C++ or LabVIEW, plus GUI/front-end capabilities. Open to graduates through to senior engineers, with visa or residency requirements to work in New Zealand.
We’re working with an innovative Auckland technology company developing advanced systems for the space industry, and we're looking for a Software Engineer to join them on an initial three-month contract.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves actually building things. You could be a recent graduate with an impressive university or personal project behind you, or an experienced engineer looking for an interesting short-term challenge. Years of experience aren't the deciding factor, we're looking for capability, enthusiasm and evidence that you can turn an idea into something that works.
The challenge is to bring data from multiple pieces of experimental equipment together into one central interface. Think of a mission-control-style console: numerous signals and instruments feeding into one place where engineers can initiate experiments, monitor what's happening and review the data afterwards.
You’ll need to think beyond the screen. Understanding where the data comes from, how the hardware connects and how that information gets into the database and interface will all be part of the challenge.
This is an initial three-month contract based in Onehunga, Auckland. Some technical support will be available, but you'll be trusted to take ownership, investigate problems and work out how to make the system come together.
If you're earlier in your career, don't be put off by the breadth of the role. If you're strong in Python, have built something you're proud of and enjoy figuring out how software interacts with the physical world, we'd be keen to hear from you.
To apply for this vacancy, you MUST be a New Zealand citizen, or resident, or have already secured the right to work in New Zealand and therefore hold a valid visa.
